The Business Problem
In January 2026, a packers and movers business in Delhi came to me with a common problem. They were spending ₹40,000 per month on Google Ads. The ads were bringing leads, but the cost per lead was high and the moment they paused ads, the leads stopped completely.
They had a website but it ranked on page 4 and 5 for their target keywords. They had no blog, minimal Google My Business activity, and zero backlinks from local websites.
Their goal was simple: reduce dependence on paid ads by building organic traffic that generates leads consistently.
This is the exact strategy we used — and the results we got in 6 months.
Phase 1: Technical SEO Audit (Weeks 1-2)
Before creating any content or building links, I always start with a technical audit. There is no point driving traffic to a broken website.
The audit revealed these issues:
- Page speed score of 31/100 on mobile (Google threshold is 90+ for good)
- No SSL certificate on some internal pages
- Duplicate meta titles on 14 pages
- Missing meta descriptions on 8 pages
- No schema markup (no LocalBusiness, no Service schema)
- Images not compressed — some over 2MB
- No sitemap submitted to Google Search Console
We fixed all of these in the first two weeks. Page speed improved from 31 to 74 on mobile after image compression, browser caching and a CDN. Schema markup was added for the business and all service pages.
Phase 2: Keyword Research and Content Plan (Week 3)
Packers and movers is a high-intent local search industry. People who search "packers and movers Delhi" are actively planning a move. They need a service now.
We mapped three types of keywords:
- High-intent service keywords: "packers and movers Delhi", "home shifting services Delhi", "office relocation Delhi"
- Specific route keywords: "packers movers Delhi to Mumbai", "shifting from Delhi to Bangalore"
- Informational keywords: "how to pack household items for moving", "tips for office relocation", "moving checklist India"
High-intent keywords convert best but are the hardest to rank for. Route keywords have lower competition and high intent. Informational keywords build traffic and authority over time.
We created dedicated landing pages for the top 10 routes (Delhi to Mumbai, Delhi to Bangalore, Delhi to Hyderabad, etc.) and started a blog targeting informational keywords.
Phase 3: Local SEO and Google My Business (Weeks 3-4)
For a local service business like packers and movers, Google My Business is critical. Appearing in the Local Pack (the 3 businesses shown on Google Maps) can double your leads.
Here is what we did with their Google My Business profile:
- Completed all sections — business description, services, attributes, hours
- Added 40+ photos of their team, vehicles, packing process and completed moves
- Published Google Posts every week with offers and tips
- Responded to all existing reviews (many had gone unanswered)
- Requested reviews from past customers via WhatsApp — went from 12 to 67 reviews in 3 months
- Added Q&A answers to the most common questions
By month 3, they were appearing in the Local Pack for "packers and movers Delhi" — a keyword they had never ranked for organically.
Phase 4: Content Marketing (Months 2-5)
We published 2 blog articles per week targeting informational and route-specific keywords. Every article was written to answer a specific question their customer would search on Google.
Top performing articles (by traffic at month 6):
- "Complete Moving Checklist India: 30 Days Before Your Shifting Date" — 2,400 monthly visitors
- "How to Pack a Kitchen for Moving: Step-by-Step Guide" — 1,800 monthly visitors
- "Delhi to Mumbai Packers and Movers: What to Expect and How to Choose" — 1,200 monthly visitors
- "Office Relocation Checklist for Indian Businesses" — 900 monthly visitors
Each article included a clear CTA: "Get a free shifting quote" with a simple form. We tracked how many leads came from each article using UTM parameters in Google Analytics.
Phase 5: Link Building (Months 2-6)
Backlinks are still one of Google strongest ranking signals. We built backlinks through:
- Listing on Indian business directories — Justdial, Sulekha, IndiaMART, Tradeindia
- Guest posts on relocation and real estate blogs
- Getting featured in a "best packers and movers in Delhi" roundup article on a local news site
- Creating a shareable infographic about "How to Choose a Reliable Packers and Movers Company" that earned 8 natural backlinks
We did not buy any links. Every backlink was earned through quality content or outreach. This matters because bought links can result in a Google penalty that takes months to recover from.
The Results at Month 6
Here is what changed between January and June 2026:
- Organic traffic: 340 monthly visitors → 2,890 monthly visitors (+750%)
- Organic leads per month: 11 → 20 (+81%)
- Keywords ranking on page 1: 3 → 47
- Google My Business calls per month: 8 → 54
- Cost per lead (organic): ₹0 (vs ₹1,200+ from paid ads)
They did not stop Google Ads. But they reduced the ad budget by 40% because organic was now generating enough leads to compensate. Over the next 12 months, the SEO results will compound further.
